Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Imo State House of Assembly, IMHA, has adopted a motion seeking to stop the usurpation of Ezeship functions and misuse of the title, Eze-elect in the state.<\/p>\n

The Assembly, in a motion moved by the member representing ldeato North State Constituency, Arthur Egwim, condemned the improper use of the word, Eze-elect by some desperate individuals, accusing them of being impostors.<\/p>\n

While moving the motion which received an accelerated hearing at the floor of the Assembly, Egwim, who is the new House Committee Chairman, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, stated categorically that, \u201cthere is nothing like Eze-elect as many have wrongly abused it.<\/p>\n

The motion reads: \u201cSome self-acclaim and prospective Ezeship candidates answering Eze-elect, now parade themselves as substantive Ezes and also usurp the office of the traditional rulers by performing functions of officially recognized Ezes. This is absolutely wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n

Egwim called on all duly recognised and gazetted Ezes whose communities are suffering instability by the interferences of those parading themselves as Eze-elect to forward a petition to the House Committee on Autonomous Community for immediate action.<\/p>\n
