Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A lawmaker in Zamfara State House of Assembly, Hon. Usman Zurmi has said he is wondering why Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle should be troubling the number one opposition party in the state, PDP, saying that he became the Governor of the state through the party he is now haunting.<\/p>\n

Speaking with DAILY POST in Gusau, the State capital, the lawmaker stated that the government led by APC in the state does not want to accept any opposition.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m really surprised why things are happening this way. The court has given an order that everyone should maintain status quo but the government does not want to obey the court order,\u201d he lamented.<\/p>\n

Fielding questions from this medium on how he coordinates with other members of the State House of Assembly since he is the only PDP member in the House of Assembly, the lawmaker said the business of lawmaking is not personal or a party affair.<\/p>\n

The lawmaker who is the chairman committee on tertiary institutions said that he is opposed to the idea of every member defecting to APC from PDP, saying that one cannot bite the fingers that fed him or her.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t have any problem with my colleagues because of my refusal to defect to APC. Even though I am alone in the House, there has never been any problem.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hon. Zurmi lamented that nobody can force him to dump PDP for APC, saying that PDP brought him to the House and he would not betray the trust.<\/p>\n

Recalled that when Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle decamped to the All Progressive Congress (APC) with his supporters and members of the State House of Assembly, the lawmaker refused to defect with them.<\/p>\n

He told DAILY POST that he did not decamp because there was no reason reasonable enough for him to dump the party that brought him to power.<\/p>\n
