Kano State Governor\u00a0 Abdullahi Ganduje on Wednesday insisted\u00a0 President Muhammadu Buhari deserved to win Saturday\u2019s presidential election in the state\u00a0 by a big margin.<\/p>\n

According to Ganduje\u00a0 those questioning the outcome of the poll are\u00a0 \u201cunserious\u201d and \u201canti-democratic\u201d.<\/p>\n

Buhari\u00a0 polled 1,464,768 votes\u00a0 to win in Kano\u00a0 while his main challenger\u00a0\u00a0 Atiku Abubakar\u00a0 of the Peoples Democratic Party scored 391,593\u00a0 to come second.<\/p>\n

However, some people believe\u00a0 the\u00a0 result might have been manipulated\u00a0 in favour of Buhari.<\/p>\n

But speaking in Abuja on Wednesday, Ganduje dismissed those expressing such doubts.<\/p>\n

He spoke with journalists soon after he paid Buhari a visit at the State House to congratulate him on his victory.<\/p>\n

He said,\u00a0 \u201cFirst of all, they are not serious people; they are people who are anti-democratic.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you had seen how the elections were conducted,\u00a0\u00a0 I think everybody would agree that INEC tried very well. Although\u00a0 there was low voter\u00a0 turnout, because we were expecting to get much more than that, the election were fair and free.<\/p>\n

\u201cThose who say we couldn\u2019t have got that much are ignorant of\u00a0 Kano\u00a0 politics.\u201d<\/p>\n

He\u00a0 said\u00a0\u00a0 Buhari\u2019s victory\u00a0 was a good omen for the APC\u00a0 ahead of the March 9 governorship poll. Ganduje is seeking a second term\u00a0 on the platform of the APC.<\/p>\n

He\u00a0 admitted that he was unable to deliver the\u00a0 five million votes he\u00a0 promised the President, blaming the failed promise on the low turnout.<\/p>\n

The governor said, \u201cMy chances are very high and you can see the beginning of it with the presidential elections.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe gave Mr President the highest number votes;\u00a0 the three senators are back, 24 House of Representatives members out of 24 have succeeded. What else are you expecting? That is the foundation.<\/p>\n
