Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Chelsea are in pole position to sign former Manchester United\u2019s fastest player, Deji Sotona, Football Insider reports.<\/p>\n

Chelsea are working on a deal ahead of the upcoming January window after failing to land Sotona in the summer.<\/p>\n

Sotona is on the radar of the Blues for a second consecutive window due to his blistering speed and the cutting edge he can provide on the pitch of play.<\/p>\n

The Irish attacker of Nigerian descent was recorded as the fastest player when he was on the books of Man United.<\/p>\n

Sotona reached a speed of 22.9mph, which was 1.2mph quicker than Diogo Dalot, the second-fastest player at Man United at the time.<\/p>\n

He quit Man United in October of 2020 to join French club OGC Nice after rejecting a new deal to extend his stay at Old.<\/p>\n

Sotona\u2019s future has been in doubt at Nice following the departure of Patrick Vieira as manager last December.<\/p>\n

Viera, who is now in charge of Premier League side Crystal Palace, had been instrumental in persuading Sotana to leave Man United.<\/p>\n

But things have turned sour for the 19-year-old forward since Vieira was sacked and he is now set to join Thomas Tuchel\u2019s side.<\/p>\n
