Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG), South-South chapter, has said it will stage a protest if the federal government withdraws fuel subsidy in 2022.<\/p>\n

A statement issued by the group\u2019s Coordinator, Alhaji Yakubu Aliyu and made available to newsmen explained that it viewed with concern the plan by the federal government to effect an upward review of the nation\u2019s already overpriced fuel.<\/p>\n

According to the statement, \u201cShould the Federal Government fail to heed our advice, we will not hesitate to join all serious protests that those, who are also bitterly opposed to the pump price increase, may embark on.\u201d<\/p>\n

It noted that more disturbing is the alleged twin simplistic policy to pay monthly a few millions of Nigerians N5,000 each to cushion the usual attendant harsh effects of the pump price increase, stressing that it is far less than what the predictable hyperinflation will engender.<\/p>\n

The statement added that with this grim background, the Federal Government should rescind the anti-common man decision, \u201cwhich is counterproductive and a sure way to make the nation\u2019s economic drift worsen.\u201d<\/p>\n
