Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Kaduna State Government has informed citizens that the ban on the use of motorcycles, popularly known as Okada, for commercial or personal purposes is still in place until further notice.<\/p>\n

Samuel Aruwan, the state Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, in a statement explained that other containment measures which remain fully in place are the ban on wielding dangerous weapons and restriction on the movement of tricycles from dusk till dawn (7 PM to 6 AM) in Birnin Gwari, Giwa, Igabi, Chikun, Kachia, Kagarko and Kajuru local government areas.<\/p>\n

The state government empathized with citizens over difficulties that the measures may engender and implored all residents to comply fully with them in the wider interest of general security.<\/p>\n

DAILY POST recalls that the state government placed the ban at the end of September 2021 as measures were put in place to curb security challenges such as banditry, killing, kidnapping and rustling of animals.<\/p>\n

Owners of private and commercial motorcycles had at the end of December 2021, cried to Governor Nasir El-Rufai-led government to lift the ban placed on motorcycles to enable them to use the motorcycles as their means of livelihood in the state.<\/p>\n
