Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has arrested 90 persons at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.<\/p>\n

A statement by Henrietta Yakubu, General Manager, Corporate Affairs, described them as touts carrying out nefarious activities<\/p>\n

The spokesperson noted that the raid was part of efforts to rid the nation\u2019s airports of \u201ctouting and extortion\u201d.<\/p>\n

The suspects were nabbed for \u201cfake COVID-19 test results, touting, unauthorised entry, trespass, illegal facilitation, forgery, loitering, theft and public nuisance\u201d.<\/p>\n

Some of them are the staff of Patovilki Nigeria Limited, Lakewood Services, NAHCO Plc, and other airport workers.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf the total arrested, 59 were handed over to the airport police command in Abuja for prosecution, while 30 were handed over to the police in Lagos\u201d, Yakubu announced.<\/p>\n

FAAN warned those that do not have legitimate businesses at the airports and staff carrying out illegal duties to desist.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Authority will not hesitate to arrest and hand over such individuals for prosecution\u201d, the statement added.<\/p>\n
