Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division of Nigerian Army, Major General T.A. Lagbaja has charged officers and men in his Division to remain steadfastly vigilant, both in their various barracks and in the society against elements that may take advantage of spates of attacks and criminality in parts of the country.<\/p>\n

The GOC also emphasized the need for Nigerian soldiers to be loyal to the Federal Government, warning seriously against any act of indiscipline.<\/p>\n

Represented by Brigadier General Frank Etim, Commander of Amphibious Training School (ATS) Calabar, the GOC spoke at the 2021 West African Social Activities (WASA), an annual social engagement which allows troops to unwind, held at the headquarters of 13 Brigade Calabar.<\/p>\n

\u201cI urge you strongly to be vigilant against elements out to destabilize the barracks and the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Operation Still Waters held recently by the Division recorded huge successes. It was essential to check criminal activities,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Lagbaja called on the soldiers to be lawful and to conduct their activities in line with the rules of engagement, adding that WASA enables them to socialise and understand the cultural diversity in the country which is the bedrock of unity.<\/p>\n

He commended the Nigeria Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA) and civilians living in the barracks for their comportment.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am happy with the reports of good relationship with the civil populace and the military. I commend NAOWA for keeping the home fronts while our troops engage in different theatres of conflicts in parts of the country,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

He prayed for the souls of soldiers that have paid the supreme price for the peace and unity of the country.<\/p>\n

Welcoming service commanders and other dignitaries at the 2021 WASA, 13 Brigade commander, Brig-General Everest Okoro reeled out successes achieved during the year, state of the Brigade and readiness to discharge their constitutional roles.<\/p>\n

During the WASA events, personnel from different units of the Brigade adjudged to have performed exceptionally were recognised and appreciated.<\/p>\n
