Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The organized Labour in Kogi State has extended the ultimatum given to the State government to implement the N30,000 minimum wage by another seven days.<\/p>\n

DAILY POST recalls that the Kogi State Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress, (NLC) Comrade Onuh Edoka on 25th January, 2022, issued a 14-day ultimatum to the State government to implement the new minimum wage or the workers would be forced to down tools.<\/p>\n

The 14-day ultimatum was expected to expire at midnight of Friday, 11th February, 2022.<\/p>\n

Announcing the extension of the ultimatum to another seven days, the organized labour in its bulletin on Saturday, signed by Comrade Omale Paul, the Acting NLC State Secretary, Comrade Kolawole James, the Acting Trade Union Congress, (TUC) State Secretary and Comrade I.A Abubakar, JPSNC State Secretary said the seven days extension was to allow the negotiating team conclude its assignment.<\/p>\n

\u201cConsequently, it is expedient to give additional time to enable negotiating team conclude the assignment in line with the provision of the Trade Union Act,\u201d they stated.<\/p>\n

The new ultimatum, according to the bulletin, will end at midnight, Tuesday 22nd February, 2022.<\/p>\n

The Organised Labour, however, saluted the cooperation of the entire workers to the struggle and urged them to remain steadfast in their prayers and solidarity so that the outcome of the negotiation would be fruitful and beneficial.<\/p>\n

It also urged the workers to remain in their offices and be law-abiding while they await further directive from the Organised Labour.<\/p>\n
