The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), says 18 candidates are expected to participate in the forthcoming governorship election in Katsina State on March 9.<\/p>\n
The state INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Ibrahim Jibril Zarewa, disclosed this while fielding questions from newsmen on Wednesday in Katsina.<\/p>\n
According to him, 316 candidates are also contesting for State House of Assembly election across the 34 local government areas of the state on the upcoming elections.<\/p>\n
Zarewa said that the commission had commenced distribution of sensitive materials to the 34 local government areas in the state.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are now moving sensitive materials from the Central Bank of Nigeria to the 34 local government areas of the state.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have all the ballot papers, results sheets and other necessary materials to ensure smooth conduct of the exercise\u2019\u2019, he said.<\/p>\n
He explained that after the Presidential and National Assembly elections, INEC reviewed its performance with a view to improving during the upcoming governorship and State Assembly elections.<\/p>\n
Zarewa said that INEC had configured Card Readers to read March 9.<\/p>\n
