Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Sunday Bisi-led Osun Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said the judgment delivered by the State High Court, Ile-Ife, will not affect the ward ad-hoc delegates\u2019 congress, which will end on Thursday, February 17, 2022, across the 332 wards in the State.<\/p>\n

This is as the party also warned that it was aware that some elements in the party were adamant in playing the destabilizing cards of the All Progressives Congress (APC) despite a passionate appeal by the National Working Committee, led by the National Chairman, Dr Iyochia Ayu.<\/p>\n

The Osun PDP ward delegates\u2019 congress is scheduled to hold between Wednesday, February 16 and Thursday, February 17, 2022.<\/p>\n

In a statement signed by Bola Ajao, the Osun PDP Secretary, made available to DAILY POST, the party said the ward ad-hoc delegates congress remained the exclusive preserve of the national secretariat of the party.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe PDP in Osun State wishes to inform our teeming party members that the purported judgement of the Osun State High Court sitting in Ile-Ife has no bearing on the ward ad-hoc delegates\u2019 Congress holding today and tomorrow across the 332 wards in the State.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe purported judgement we must emphasize, has nothing to do with the ongoing Ward ad-hoc congress, as such exercise remains an exclusive preserve of the national office of our great party,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The statement, which stressed that congresses for the election of ad-hoc delegates are not conducted by State chapters of the party, added that the processes for the congress had since been kick-started by the appropriate authorities of the party and all stakeholders were being carried along to ensure a successful exercise.<\/p>\n

Reacting to the judgment which upheld all the ward congresses conducted under the leadership of Olasoji Adagunodo-led party executives and re-confirmed Barrister Wale Ojo as acting chairman of the party, the Osun PDP scribe revealed that the party\u2019s legal team has been instructed to immediately file an appeal.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Osun PDP Chairman, Sunday Bisi has charged leaders and members of the party across the State to conduct themselves peacefully during and after the ward ad-hoc delegates\u2019 congress.<\/p>\n

Bisi, who an Ile-Ife State High Court on Wednesday nullified his prayer to set aside the November 22, 2021, judgment recognising Ojo as Osun PDP chairman, also urged party members to cooperate fully with the assigned electoral officers in each of the 332 wards in the State.<\/p>\n

The 3 man-ward ad-hoc delegates\u2019 congress is in preparation for the special State congress slated for March 7, where the candidate of the party for the July 16 governorship election in the State will be elected.<\/p>\n

The electoral committee for the exercise, as nominated by the National Working Committee of the party, is headed by the Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Baba Tela.<\/p>\n
