Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>For Nigeria to get it right on Women\u2019s Political and Administrative Rights, the federal government must agree on the 35 Percent affirmative actions on their participation and appointments in politics.<\/p>\n

The observation was made by the Manager Governance, ActionAid, Mr Celestine Okwudiii Odo in an address in Kano to mark the International Women\u2019s Day in conjunction with the Centre for Communication and Social Impact (CCSI).<\/p>\n

The theme of the programme which attracted women from all walks of life was \u201dGender Equality today for Sustainable Tomorrow\u201d.<\/p>\n

Odo said Women and Youth Inclusion and participation mean equality in the representation of Women and Youth in both numbers and at the level of decision making.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cFor our emerging democracy in Nigeria to be sustainable, all groups within the population must be actively involved in the governance process and their voices must be heard. And their experiences and expertise utilised for optimal growth and development of the Country.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe must rise to break the bias that hitherto limits women participation in politics and governance process<\/p>\n

Mr Odo, however, said the campaign for the inclusion of women and young people in politics and governance processes called for greater participation of women in politics and Governance\u201d.<\/p>\n

He said it is high time Nigerians wake up from their slumber and break the biases against women and young people\u2019s participation in governing Nigeria.<\/p>\n
