Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) and former leader, Zamfara State House of Assembly, Hon. Salisu Kainuwa Tsafe has lamented that the Mai Mala Buni-led caretaker committee went outside the party\u2019s constitutional provisions.<\/p>\n

Tsafe, who is also a statutory delegate to the national convention, told newsmen in Gusau, the State capital, that the main reason for constituting the caretaker committee was to make adequate arrangements for the National convention of the party.<\/p>\n

He said that other actions by the caretaker committee were illegal as they were outside their statutory mandate.<\/p>\n

The former lawmaker said it was unfortunate that the committee was given six months to conduct a credible national convention but it manipulated its ways to spend up to eighteen months.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe constitution of the party does not recognize an acting committee, and after Adams Oshiomole was sacked by the NEC, his Deputy, Mr. Niyi was supposed to take over but he was made a Minister and when the southern part of Nigeria failed to organize themselves, it was resolved that a convention committee be formed so that new leaders of the party could emerge.<\/p>\n

\u201cI, therefore, challenge anybody advocating for Mai Mala Buni to explain where in the party\u2019s constitution provision that an acting committee was allowed to be formed to run the affairs of the party,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Tsafe insisted that it was too late for the APC to amend the deep cracks on the walls of the party, considering that it has just twelve days to its national convention.<\/p>\n
