Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Sen. Orji Kalu, the Chief Whip of the Senate, has condemned the attack on the Awo-Omamma country home of the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Prof. George Obiozor.<\/p>\n

DAILY POST reports that the home of the elder statesman was set ablaze by gunmen in the early hours of Saturday.<\/p>\n

Kalu in a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja, described the act as evil, cruel and wicked.<\/p>\n

He called on appropriate authorities to investigate the ugly incident in a bid to bring the perpetrators to book.<\/p>\n

The former Governor of Abia stressed that the statesman is a peace-loving Nigerian, who has consistently sustained his good character in view of his personal attributes and commitment to nation-building.<\/p>\n

Kalu faulted the attackers for what he described as uncivilized action, adding that violence and social vices were detrimental to the growth and progress of the society.<\/p>\n

The Senate Chief Whip called on Ndigbo and Nigerians, in general, to embrace peace and unity for the sake of nation-building.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cthe reported attack on the country home of the President General of the apex Igbo body, Ohaneze Ndigbo, Prof. George Obiozor is unnecessary, wicked and crude.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere should be law and order in a democratic setup and as such the ugly incident must be properly investigated so as to bring the perpetrators to book.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe President General is highly respected beyond the shores of Nigeria and he doesn\u2019t deserve to be maltreated.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe perpetrators of the evil act must face the wrath of the law.<\/p>\n

\u201cI strongly and categorically condemn the evil act.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kalu, while urging the President-General to be calm, admonished security agencies to live up to expectations by exposing the perpetrators of the incident.<\/p>\n
