Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Former governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel has asked Nigerians to vote with their brain in the 2023 election.<\/p>\n

The former Governor spoke at the fourth annual lecture of FreedomOnline, titled, \u2018Nigeria\u2019s political indices: Bright or bleak future?\u2019 in Lagos on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

He noted that this was the only way Nigerians can rewrite the destiny of the nation.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cThe next election (2023) offers us an opportunity to rewrite the destiny of this country. The decision we make next year will be with us for arguably eight years. That\u2019s long enough to make the country better or make it worse.\u201d<\/p>\n

Daniel stressed that the only way Nigerians can leave the trenches was by putting into power individuals who are realists.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t need Powerpoint presentations and well-written manifestos that end up in the dustbin of history.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need leadership that, as they say in the mathematical parlance, \u2018show workings.\u2019 Anybody can write and make promises, but we have to be intentional in ensuring that we elect those who know how to bring to life these visions,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

The former Governor asked Nigerians to kick against vote buying and question presidential aspirants on how they intend to fulfill their promises.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf someone promises to create television, don\u2019t just clap, ask the person questions on how he intends to do that.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut again, we would have lost the morality to question our leaders properly if we continued to indulge in the menace threatening our democracy: vote-buying,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
