Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A popular Nigerian cleric, Pastor Adewale Giwa, has disclosed that for the Southwest region to be free from the series of challenges facing Nigeria, Odua Republic must be actualised.<\/p>\n

The cleric also revealed that as witnessed during the era of Chief Obafemi Awolowo, when the western region was already competing with some countries in terms of development, the Odua Republic will be greater than the United States of America.<\/p>\n

According to Pastor Giwa who stated this on Saturday in Akure, Ondo State, everyone will have input in the constitution, unlike the one that was foisted on Nigerians by the military.<\/p>\n

\u201cOdua republic will be far better than the United States. The region will be a tourism destination for foreigners.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe witnessed it before when Chief Obafemi Awolowo was a leader in the southwest region. The region witnessed social development. History will repeat itself if we southwest separates from Nigeria.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe crisis facing the region will disappear because the Odua republic will have its own constitution that will be entirely different from the military constitution that we rely on in Nigeria.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe military constitution has continued to cause division among the people. So if the Yoruba nation should leave Nigeria, it will definitely have its own constitution. Everyone will contribute to the constitution in the form of a referendum. So we will have a new constitution.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we practised regionalism in Nigeria, there was massive development. Other countries that pulled out that took the bold step years back are doing wonderfully well.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo if Yoruba should go today, I can assure you that the region will witness a massive development.\u201d<\/p>\n
