Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Former interim coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Augustine Eguavoen, has opened up on claims that some of the players were forced on him by football authorities in the country.<\/p>\n

There have been rumours suggesting in some quarters that the coach did not have complete control of the Super Eagles.<\/p>\n

It was as well suggested that some top officials at the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, and the sports ministry mandated the former coach to make as many as five changes for the second leg of the World Cup qualifying playoff between Nigeria and Ghana in Abuja.<\/p>\n

Eguavoen was asked if he was forced to make those changes, and he said on SuperSport Monday Night Football, \u201cThat\u2019s not true, nobody can force any player on me.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve all been watching Lookman week in, week out and he has been doing tremendously well in his club not just in Leicester City, Fulham, even when he went abroad.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd you can have a Lookman in the team following the performance of Moses Simon of late because you tell Moses, \u2018you know what to do\u2019. He\u2019s got that technique, he\u2019s got the ability to do things.<\/p>\n

\u201cMoses, physically he\u2019s stronger than Lookman whether we like it or not physically, and I just felt that Lookman at home can do things and after a certain time Moses can come and finish the job because he\u2019s got energy, he\u2019s got the strength.\u201d<\/p>\n
