{"id":62847,"date":"2022-04-09T16:21:07","date_gmt":"2022-04-09T15:21:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/nnamdi-kanu-will-be-granted-bail-on-may-18-lawyer-ejimakor"},"modified":"2022-04-09T17:39:09","modified_gmt":"2022-04-09T16:39:09","slug":"nnamdi-kanu-will-be-granted-bail-on-may-18-lawyer-ejimakor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/nnamdi-kanu-will-be-granted-bail-on-may-18-lawyer-ejimakor","title":{"rendered":"Nnamdi Kanu will be granted bail on May 18 \u2013 Lawyer Ejimakor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Aloy Ejimakor, Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has assured that his client would be granted bail on May 18, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Ejimakor was reacting to yesterday\u2019s ruling by an Abuja Federal High Court, that struck out eight out of the 15-count charges against Kanu.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Binta Nyako struck out the eight count charges on the grounds that the proof of evidence did not link Kanu to the charges.<\/p>\n<p>The judge delivered a ruling on a preliminary objection the Biafran leader raised against all the charges.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have read the counts and counts 6,7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 14 have not disclosed any offense against the defendent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2018Counts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 15 shows some allegations. The court shall proceed to try the defendant on those count,\u201d the Judge ruled.<\/p>\n<p>Following the ruling, the judge had slated hearing for Kanu\u2019s bail application for May 18, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Reacting, Ejimakor congratulated his fellow counsels for the feat achieved.<\/p>\n<p>In a tweet, the Special Counsel wrote: \u201cCongratulations to my colleagues who were on ground yesterday to receive the 8-count strike out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s great that the Umuahia judgment was brought to bear on the bail application moved by SAN Ozekhome. I\u2019m confident that #MNK will make bail on 18th May.
