Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Katsina Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service intercepted contraband with Duty Paid Value put at N31.4 million from April 1 to date.<\/p>\n

Alhaji Wada Cedi, Comptroller in charge of Katsina, made this known while displaying the goods before newsmen in Katsina.<\/p>\n

He said that the goods include vehicles, foreign rice and pasta, vegetable oil, macaroni, cow skin, premium motor spirit (petrol) and gas cylinders.<\/p>\n

Ceci said the customs also seized eight vehicles with a DPV of N8.6 million.<\/p>\n

He said the ban on the export and import of contraband remains in spite of the reopening of the Jibiya border.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want the general public to get this clear, the ban on the importation or exportation of contraband remains enforced.<\/p>\n

\u201dSo, contraband shouldn\u2019t be imported because the aim is to make the country self-reliant.<\/p>\n

\u201dWe will also intensify surveillance on all the borders and other routes to ensure compliance,\u201d he said. (NAN)<\/p>\n
