Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Manchester United midfielder, Jesse Lingard has been told that remaining at Old Trafford this season would mean two steps backwards for him.<\/p>\n

Lingard was again left on the bench for what could have been his last Old Trafford match at the club against Brentford on Monday night.<\/p>\n

Manchester United honoured the likes of Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic, who are both also set to leave the club this summer, given minutes at Old Trafford in the 3-0 win.<\/p>\n

But Lingard remained on the bench for the entire duration of the game.<\/p>\n

And former Burnley and Queen Park Rangers star, Charlie Austin said staying at Old Trafford would be a backward movement for the England international.<\/p>\n

\u201cStaying at Man United, Jesse Lingard has taken two steps back.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis stock was so high [at West Ham], but it\u2019s not worked out this year,\u201d he told talkSPORT.<\/p>\n
