Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>No fewer than 37 suspected criminals have been arrested across the 18 local government areas of Ondo State.<\/p>\n

The arrest was made during a 24-hour joint patrol led by the Nigerian Army and operatives of the Amotekun Corps.<\/p>\n

The patrol, which took place across the state simultaneously was part of the state government\u2019s attempts to ensure a crime-free Eid-El-Fitri celebration in the state.<\/p>\n

Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, the Ondo State Commander of the Amotekun Corps, disclosed this to newsmen at the Corps Headquarters in Akure, the state capital.<\/p>\n

According to him, the patrol, which began on Friday last week would end on Thursday, adding that the week-long exercise was aimed at ridding the state of criminal elements.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the last five days, we have been able to harvest a number of criminals ranging from Armed robbers, suspected kidnappers, fraudsters, \u201cYahoo yahoo\u201d boys and those that are engaged in nefarious activities,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to commend men of the Nigeria Army from the 32 Artillery Brigade for their huge support likewise the Nigeria Police force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, and of course, the Department of State Service, DSS, for their support towards ensuring that the holiday was crime free.\u201d<\/p>\n
