Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku of Taraba State has again renewed his calls for the people of the state to be vigilant and to always monitor strangers coming into their communities.<\/p>\n

The governor, who on Thursday expressed shock and sadness at the news of the killing of six soldiers of the 93 Battalion in an ambush, described the act as uncalled for.<\/p>\n

The soldiers alongside their commander, whose whereabouts, at the time of filing this report still remain unknown, were attacked in an ambush in Tati village in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba by bandits during a military operation.<\/p>\n

Piqued by the development, the governor, through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Bala Dan Abu, expressed worry about the fate of the Commanding officer of the Battalion who was declared missing after the operation.<\/p>\n

The attack on civilians and police officers in Takum, which prompted the reaction of the soldiers from the 93 Battalion, according to the governor, \u201chad proved that the bandits had become even more desperate than ever to kill and to maim innocent people.\u201d<\/p>\n

While applauding the gallantry of the soldiers, led by the commanding officer of the battalion for reacting promptly to the distress calls by the people of the areas under the siege of the bandits, he lamented that the operation resulted in the \u201cunfortunate death of six military officers and the uncertainty over the whereabouts of the commanding officer.\u201d<\/p>\n

While commiserating with the military, and the immediate and extended families of the deceased military officers, he urged Nigerians to also pray for the safe return of the Commanding Officer of the Battalion.<\/p>\n
