Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Ahead of the governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) scheduled to hold Thursday, 26th May, stakeholders from the state on Wednesday protested against the alleged plot to impose Akanimo Udofia as the governorship candidate of the party in the 2023 elections.<\/p>\n

The protesters, who besieged the national secretariat of the party around 10: 30 a.m, said it was unheard of that an alleged member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was being considered the governorship candidate of the party.<\/p>\n

The protesters were armed with placards with various inscriptions like; \u201cAkan Udofia, Akwa Ibom State does not want you\u201d; \u201cPeoples Democratic Party (PDP) sponsoring known mole in APC\u201d; \u201cNo to Akan Udofia, PDP mole in APC\u201d; \u201cAkan Udofia is working for PDP and Governor Emmanuel Udom\u201d.<\/p>\n

The leader of the protesters, Mr. Obong Victor, while addressing newsmen said Akwa Ibom State was in shock that Udofia, a PDP-screened and confirmed aspirant, who is still campaigning and meeting with the Governor of Akwa Ibom State and other PDP stakeholders could come over to the APC and be handed the governorship ticket.<\/p>\n

He noted that there was no doubt that there would be serious dissatisfaction in the party, which he said might be too costly for the party.<\/p>\n

Victor stated: \u201cThis is to urgently bring to the attention of the National Chairman and the entire members of the National Executive Council (NEC) of our great party that an established and confirmed PDP sponsored mole in the person of Akanimo Asuquo Udofia is about to be imposed on Akwa Ibom APC members as their governorship candidate.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Akwa Ibom State government is the sponsor of Akan Udofia. The purpose is to pick the governorship ticket of APC and later pave the way for the success of the Udom Emmanuel imposed governorship candidate of PDP.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is also part of their agreement that in the eventual circumstance of disqualification of the PDP candidate, Akan Udofia will carry on with the interest of Governor Udom Emmanuel.\u201d<\/p>\n

Victor stressed that they have evidence that has been submitted to support their claim.<\/p>\n

He insisted that the Abdulahi Adamu-led National Working Committee must act fast<\/p>\n
