Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Former Manchester United manager, Louis van Gaal, has chosen Manchester City playmaker, Kevin De Bruyne, as the Player that should win the 2022 Ballon d\u2019Or award.<\/p>\n

Van Gaal\u2019s choice pits him against many football pundits and fans who consider Real Madrid\u2019s Karim Benzema the most deserving winner after the phenomenal season he had with both club and country.<\/p>\n

In a pre-match conference with Then24, Van Gaal believes De Bruyne is the Best Player this year.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cFor me, he is the Player of the Year. The Golden Ball [Ballon d\u2019Or]? That\u2019s what I mean, yes.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cBut as a midfielder, he will not be chosen quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n

De Bruyne won the 2021\/22 Premier League title with Man City.<\/p>\n

The Belgium midfielder scored 19 goals in the 2021-22 campaign and set up a further 14 for his teammates in 45 appearances.<\/p>\n
