Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Chief Whip of the Senate, Orji Kalu, has identified three key attributes of former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd).<\/p>\n

Kalu said Abubakar is a patriotic statesman, a selfless leader with a passion for a prosperous and indivisible Nigeria.<\/p>\n

The former Abia Governor, in a goodwill message issued on Monday in Abuja in honour of Abubakar who clocked 80, prayed to Allah to give the celebrant longer life in the service of humanity.<\/p>\n

While extolling the virtues of the former Nigerian leader, Kalu praised Abubakar for his roles in the enthronement and sustenance of democracy beyond the shores of Nigeria.<\/p>\n

He said the fourth republic in Nigeria couldn\u2019t have been possible without the support of the former Head of State.<\/p>\n

He urged leaders to emulate the outstanding leadership qualities of the former Head of State, saying that Abubakar\u2019s role in promoting peace and unity across the country is worthy of commendation.<\/p>\n

Kalu said, \u201con behalf of the people of Abia North Senatorial District, I congratulate former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd) on the occasion of his 80th birthday anniversary.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe former Nigerian leader is an accomplished statesman, genuine leader and philanthropist.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis contributions to nation-building in various capacities are enormous, remarkable and unbeatable.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe former Head of State has sustained his goodwill and pedigree, over the years, owing to his exemplary leadership style.<\/p>\n

\u201cI celebrate the accomplishments of the former Head of State in all facets of life\u201d.<\/p>\n

Kalu wished him many more rewarding years ahead in sound health.<\/p>\n

Abubakar, who was born on June 13, 1942, served as Head of State after succeeding late Gen. Sani Abacha and handed over to a democratically elected government in 1999.<\/p>\n
