Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A senior US defence official has said that Russia launched more strikes on Ukraine in the past week than America has seen in recent weeks.<\/p>\n

The official also said the Ukrainians are using the (High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems) HIMARS that were delivered to their country in security assistance packages \u201cvery well.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to CNN, the official said this \u201ccould be related to the G7. It certainly could be related to the Ukrainian movement of HIMARS into the war theatre.<\/p>\n

\u201cOr it could be a larger portion of their long-term battle strategy here. I\u2019m just not sure,\u201d said the official.<\/p>\n

The official said Russia is making gains in the Donbas region but is still facing Ukrainian resistance.<\/p>\n

In a background call with reporters, the official added the US is aware that several Russian generals have been relieved of command and there are \u201ccontinued morale concerns with Russian forces.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the Kherson region, the US official in his country is aware that local officials who have been working with Russia have been assassinated amid Ukrainian resistance, and that the Ukrainians have made modest gains in the northern part of the region.<\/p>\n
