Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>President Muhammadu Buhari has extended condolences to the family of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.<\/p>\n

The President also commiserated with the government and people of Japan on Abe\u2019s assassination.<\/p>\n

The politician was shot Friday morning while delivering a speech ahead of Sunday\u2019s parliamentary election.<\/p>\n

Buhari described Japan\u2019s longest-serving PM as an outstanding leader, assuring the family of the prayers and thoughts of all Nigerians.<\/p>\n

He said Abe will be remembered for his commitment to strengthening trade and investment between Africa and Japan through various initiatives.<\/p>\n

The President recalled that Abe used the instrumentality of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) for partnerships.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnder Abe, Nigeria and Japan enjoyed a strategic partnership, supporting each other\u2019s shared aspirations on economic cooperation, healthcare, human resource development, disaster risk reduction, peace and security\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

Buhari prayed that the memory of the deceased would be a blessing to his nation and people, \u201cwhom he served so devotedly\u201d.<\/p>\n
