Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>There was tension on Friday night following an explosion at Matrix tank farm in Ifiekporo, near Ubeji Community in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.<\/p>\n

Residents of the community and other adjoining communities scampered for safety after earth-shaking tremours occurred around many buildings following the blast.<\/p>\n

The explosion was caused by flames as a result of loading activities at the tank farm.<\/p>\n

The Warri South Council Chairman, Dr. Michael Tidi has now asked the community to remain calm, saying the explosion heard in parts of the town was being contained.<\/p>\n

Dr. Tidi, who has since called on the relevant authorities and government agencies, assured that the situation has been brought under control as fire service vehicles had been mobilized to the scene and were already containing the inferno.<\/p>\n

Luqman Salam-Alada and Fred Olomoro, CEO and Safety Manager of Matrix Energy, respectively, reportedly confirmed in a telephone interview that the situation was under control as of the time of this report.<\/p>\n
