Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Chioma Onyekwere made history as the first Nigerian to win gold medal in the discus event at the Commonwealth Games.<\/p>\n

Onyekwere threw a season best 61.70m to claim first place ahead of other competitors in the women\u2019s discus event.<\/p>\n

Her compatriot, Amaechi won the bronze medal in the event with a throw of 56.99m.<\/p>\n

England\u2019s Jade Jally won the silver medal in the event.<\/p>\n

In weightlifting, Osijo Mary won a bronze medal in the women\u2019s 87KG event.<\/p>\n

Mary lifted a total 236 KG to finish in third place.<\/p>\n
