Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand, has urged the club to sign Brighton striker, Danny Welbeck.<\/p>\n

Ferdinand believes Welbeck, a former Man United star, would fill in for Cristiano Ronaldo in the Red Devils squad and free space for Bruno Fernandes.<\/p>\n

This is coming after Brighton defeated Man United 2-1 in a Premier League tie on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Speaking on his Vibe with Five YouTube channel, Ferdinand said, \u201cWelbeck walked out of that tunnel and you could see, shoulders back, chest out, thinking \u2013 \u2018I will terrorise these two [Martinez and Maguire]\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat is how he played today, he looked like prime-time Danny Welbeck at the Bernabeu against Real Madrid 10 years ago.\u201d<\/p>\n

On whether Man Utd should sign Welbeck if they had the opportunity to, Ferdinand added: \u201cOn that performance [Man Utd vs Brighton], no doubt. If you want a back-up striker, you would not go far wrong with Danny Welbeck.<\/p>\n

\u201cSay to him, \u2018you are going to play 15\/20 games over the season, fill in for Cristiano\u2019. It gives us the legs, gives us the movement \u2013 the running behind defenders like he did today and it frees up the space for the likes of Bruno.\u201d<\/p>\n
