Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has urged the Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, to avoid creating needless division among Ndigbo ahead of the 2023 general election.<\/p>\n

This is following a press statement issued by the MASSOB national leader, Comrade Uchenna Madu, wherein he told the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Vice Presidential candidate, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to stop claiming to be Igbo.<\/p>\n

However, the statement did not go down well with the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide.<\/p>\n

The Igbo youth group has now asked MASSOB to retrace its steps, noting that Okowa had never denied his Igbo identity.<\/p>\n

In a statement signed by the Ohanaeze Youths National President, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike and the National Secretary, Comrade Obinna Achionye, they maintained that Okowa had always identified with the Ohanaeze.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey cannot because of the attack on agitators in Delta State deny the identity of Ifeanyi Okowa. Even in our domain here in the South-East, agitators are killed too.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat shouldn\u2019t be a criteria to know who is Igbo or not, such a claim is baseless.<\/p>\n

\u201cIs MASSOB now saying that Ambassador Ralph Uwaechue is no longer Igbo?<\/p>\n

\u201cApart from Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, none has supported Ohanaeze Ndigbo more than Okowa before now. Is it because he\u2019s not making noise about it?\u201d The group queried.<\/p>\n

It further asked the MASSOB to emulate the IPOB on being issue-based, stressing that \u201cthey should not allow themselves to be used by political parties. This is why there is this wrong speculation that certain presidential candidates have affiliation with agitators.\u201d<\/p>\n
