Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar has said the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, won\u2019t embark on strike if he is elected as president.<\/p>\n

Atiku said the government\u2019s inability to resolve the ASUU strike would never happen under his administration.<\/p>\n

He spoke at the commemoration of the 2022 International Youth Day in Abuja on Friday.<\/p>\n

Atiku stressed that the most important and fundamental right of any youth is the right to education.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cTherefore, I take very strong exception to the strike by ASUU. The inability of the government to resolve that crisis will never happen under a PDP government or administration that I will oversee.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have been investing in education for the past 30 years.\u201d<\/p>\n

The former Vice President promised to work with the university authorities in bringing to an end the incessant strike.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe the PDP provides the best platform for you to actualise your individual, collective aspirations,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

ASUU has been on strike since February 14 over the federal government\u2019s inability to honour their 2009 agreement.<\/p>\n
