Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Deji of Akure, Oba Ogunlade Aladetoyinbo, has ordered the shut down of commercial activities within Akure, the Ondo State capital on Monday, August 22.<\/p>\n

The monarch ordered that all marketplaces and shops in Akure and its neighboring settlements be closed in observance of the town\u2019s yearly ancient traditional celebration, known as \u201cAheregbe.\u201d<\/p>\n

Michael Adeyeye, the Chief Press Secretary to the Deji of Akure, said in a statement that the closure is required as part of the long-standing custom in honor of the yearly Aheregbe Festival.<\/p>\n

Residents were informed in the announcement that no trading or store openings of any kind will be permitted throughout the festival.<\/p>\n

The monarch pleaded with market women and business owners to strictly adhere to the order.<\/p>\n

However, the statement revealed that only pharmacies and other drug stores will be permitted to operate during the festival.<\/p>\n
