Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Chief Willie Obiano, the immediate past governor of Anambra State, has sympathized with his successor, Chukwuma Soludo and the State\u2019s Assembly over the death of Dr Nnamdi Okafor, the Majority Leader of the House of Assembly.<\/p>\n

Obiano, in a statement issued by his media aide, Tony Nezianya, also extended his condolences to the Anambra government and the people of the State over the passing of Okafor, a pharmacist.<\/p>\n

Okafor was the lawmaker representing Awka South 1 Constituency in the assembly.<\/p>\n

The lawmaker slumped and died on Tuesday in Johannesburg, South Africa, where he was attending a training session organized for members of the State House of Assembly.<\/p>\n

Obiano said that out of love for Anambra and Nigeria, Okafor left a thriving pharmaceutical job in the US to add value to the country\u2019s political development.<\/p>\n

According to him, Okafor left the US to explore what he could do to uplift his constituency.<\/p>\n

Obiano said, \u201cHe was an active lawmaker and the Majority Leader in the House who has been contributing to the growth of the legislature and participating in robust debates in the House.<\/p>\n

\u201cI condole with Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Rt. Hon Uche Okafor, the Speaker, members of the House, the people of Awka South 1 Constituency and his immediate family over his demise.\u201d<\/p>\n

The erstwhile governor said Okafor was a vocal lawmaker who would be missed in the legislature and by the people of Anambra.<\/p>\n
