Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>In the face of the worsening insecurity in Nigeria, the Coalition of Northern Elders for Peace and Development, CNEEPP, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to sack the National Security Adviser, NSA, Babagana Monguno.<\/p>\n

The elders also urged Buhari to sack all Service Chiefs in the country.<\/p>\n

CNEEPP said the sack of Monguno and Service Chiefs would boost security across the country during the 2023 general elections.<\/p>\n

A statement by the group\u2019s National Coordinator, Zana Goni, said security operatives have lost confidence in Monguno and the Service Chiefs\u2019 ability.<\/p>\n

The statement reads: \u201cNigerians in 2015 and 2019 voted President Buhari to power in anticipation that as a former military head of state and a retired General, he was the right person to deal decisively with all forms of threats to the security of the people.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut over seven years down the line, rather than abate, insecurity has escalated, thereby, exposing great numbers of people to avoidable deaths and loss of property in a manner that history has never witnessed.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile we recognise President Buhari\u2019s prerogative to appoint, sack or replace service chiefs, at the same time, he swore an oath to protect the lives and property of every Nigerian citizen.<\/p>\n

\u201cSack of the National Security Adviser, NSA, Major General Babagana Monguno (Rtd) the Service Chiefs to boost the war against insecurity in the country as the General Elections draw close, the elders said,\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe motivation is to remove the NSA, and all the service chiefs as both junior and senior officers have lost confidence in the leadership of the security agencies.\u201d<\/p>\n
