Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Calvin Bassey has admitted that playing against his former club, Rangers, in Wednesday night\u2019s UEFA Champions League clash was weird.<\/p>\n

Bassey severed ties with Rangers this summer, linking up with Eredivisie champions, Ajax.<\/p>\n

The defender was in fantastic form as Ajax destroyed Rangers 4-0 at the Johan Cryuff Stadium, Amsterdam.<\/p>\n

The 22-year-old also grabbed an assist in the game.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m buzzing, but it\u2019s a weird feeling,\u201d Bassey told UEFA\u2019s official website.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I\u2019m not playing against the boys I\u2019m rooting for them and wanting them to win, but on the pitch you have to switch that focus and I\u2019m pleased to get the win.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bassey also reflected on the win and praised his teammates for their efficiency in front of goal.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt wasn\u2019t easy for us; we just executed at the right times. There\u2019s still work that can be done for us to get better and we\u2019re pleased with the performance,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Ajax have now kept a clean sheet in each of their last four matches across all competitions.<\/p>\n
