{"id":72135,"date":"2022-09-12T16:50:23","date_gmt":"2022-09-12T15:50:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/two-youths-allegedly-kill-85-year-old-man-accused-of-witchcraft"},"modified":"2022-09-12T18:07:37","modified_gmt":"2022-09-12T17:07:37","slug":"two-youths-allegedly-kill-85-year-old-man-accused-of-witchcraft","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/two-youths-allegedly-kill-85-year-old-man-accused-of-witchcraft","title":{"rendered":"Two youths allegedly kill 85-year-old man accused of witchcraft"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Two young men in Adamawa State have been arrested by the police for allegedly killing an old man accused of witchcraft.<\/p>\n<p>The youths: Gayawan Danzaria, 22; and Thank-God Obadia, 18, who hail from Shimba in Song Local Government Area, are being investigated by the Adamawa State Police Command over the murder.<\/p>\n<p>The youths, it was gathered on Monday, axed the 85-year-old man to death after he was accused of witchcraft by a woman who allegedly hired them.<\/p>\n<p>The woman, now at large, had allegedly accused the deceased of bewitching her son and then arranged with the young killers to go after the old man.<\/p>\n<p>Those familiar with the matter said the woman paid N2,000 to the accused with a promise to add N3,000 after they had killed the old man.<\/p>\n<p>When they collected the part payment, sources said, Thank-God armed himself with an axe and stormed the residence of the deceased by 10:00am, with Gayawan Danzaria outside the house to watch against intruders.<\/p>\n<p>Thank-God confessed to finding the octogenarian lying down in his apartment and hitting him with the axe around his forehead, following which he died instantly.<\/p>\n<p>Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer for Adamawa State, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said the two youths arrested over the matter were being investigated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe accused will be thoroughly investigated and charged to court,\u201d Nguroje assured.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\">Nigeria<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
