Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Osun State Independent Electoral Commission Chairman, Olusegun Oladitan, has charged the Commission\u2019s newly-recruited Electoral Officers on the need for good service delivery in the conduct of the forthcoming local government elections in the state.<\/p>\n

Oladitan gave the charge in Osogbo at a 5-day pre- election training for the Officers where he asserted that being an Electoral officer comes with responsibilities which are critical and central to the conduct of free, fair and credible elections.<\/p>\n

He added that the training and electoral orientation of the officers will ensure that the conduct of election conforms with international best practices.<\/p>\n

Speaking further, Oladitan maintained that the conduct of electoral officials are prerequisite to the building of strong democratic institution that will work for the benefit of all citizens.<\/p>\n

The chairman also stated that the 2023 local government elections in Osun state will be based on the presidential system of government which, he said, will enable all eligible citizens in State to participate in the electoral process by freely casting their votes for their preferred candidates.<\/p>\n

Oladitan reiterated that Osun State Government, under the leadership of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, is committed to adherence to the provisions of the Constitution in the conduct of the council elections.<\/p>\n

The chairman then emphasized that the commission will ensure transparent electoral process by providing all the needed logistics as well as materials and equipment to make the election free, fair and credible.<\/p>\n
