Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has vowed to go after the sponsors and perpetrators of the obaship crisis that claimed lives and property in Agosasa, Ipokia Local Government Area of the State.<\/p>\n

Three people died on Monday, while houses and cars were set aflame by some angry youths.<\/p>\n

The youths were protesting the efforts of some politicians in the town to allegedly impose an unpopular candidate as the next Oja of Agosasa.<\/p>\n

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin, on Wednesday, Abiodun condemned the violence, declaring that anyone found culpable in the skirmish will be arrested and prosecuted according to the extant laws of the state.<\/p>\n

The governor said Ogun is known to be peaceful and serene for investment, saying his administration would not allow any individual or group of individuals to thwart the peace being enjoyed in the state.<\/p>\n

Abiodun, while expressing displeasure over the incident he described as unfortunate, said there are legitimate channels issues of obaship could be addressed without recourse to violence.<\/p>\n

He reiterated that his administration would not allow breakdown of law and order, vowing that perpetrators of the Agosasa mayhem would not go unpunished.<\/p>\n

The governor, while calling for calm in the town, said he had directed the police in the state to restore peace in the town, ensure normalcy and fish out those behind the violence with the view of prosecuting them accordingly.<\/p>\n

He, however, assured the residents of Agosasa that adequate security will be provided, urging them to remain calm and go about their normal businesses without fear.<\/p>\n
