Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday joined the entertainment industry in celebrating juju music maestro and multi-instrumentalist, Chief Sunday Adeniyi Adegeye, better known as King Sunny Ade, who turns 76 on September 22, 2022.<\/p>\n

Buhari rejoiced with the internationally renowned artiste, who is the first Nigerian to be nominated for a Grammy in the 80s, playing a significant role in the huge success of the country\u2019s music industry, with influence across genres, including Hollywood, where his songs were featured in many movies.<\/p>\n

This was disclosed in a statement by Femi Adesina, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President.<\/p>\n

As the talented guitarist turns 76, Buhari extolled the gifted songwriter, producer and visiting professor of music at the Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, for taking Nigerian beats to the world, exporting the rich culture and placing instruments like the \u201ctalking drum\u2019\u2019 on the global spotlight for research and adaption.<\/p>\n

The President believes the recognitions and awards received by the multi-talented entertainer over the years, including the national award, MFR, are well deserved.<\/p>\n

Buhari, however, prayed for his good health, strength and grace of more creativity.<\/p>\n
