{"id":73067,"date":"2022-09-26T15:34:35","date_gmt":"2022-09-26T14:34:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/approve-ak-47-for-other-state-security-outfits-like-in-katsina-coalition-berates-fg"},"modified":"2022-09-26T16:55:11","modified_gmt":"2022-09-26T15:55:11","slug":"approve-ak-47-for-other-state-security-outfits-like-in-katsina-coalition-berates-fg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/approve-ak-47-for-other-state-security-outfits-like-in-katsina-coalition-berates-fg","title":{"rendered":"Approve AK-47 for other state security outfits like in Katsina \u2013 Coalition berates FG"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Coalition of Southern and Middle Belt Youth Leaders Assembly, COSMBYLA, has tasked the Federal Government to approve AK-47 rifles for states facing security problems.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that the Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, had on Thursday revealed that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government approved AK-47 rifles for Katsina State security.<\/p>\n<p>The governor stated this while lamenting the government\u2019s denial of the Western Nigeria Security Network (Amotekun Corps) to carry assault rifles despite terror attacks.<\/p>\n<p>Reacting, COSMBYLA in a statement issued by its President General, Goodluck Ibem, commended the FG over the approval for Katsina State security to bear such arm.<\/p>\n<p>The statement said the approval of the AK-47 rifles should be extended to other states facing similar security challenges.<\/p>\n<p>The statement reads partly, \u201cBenue State Community Volunteer Guards, BSCVG, Amotekun, and others are by the approval for Katsina state security outfit to carry AK47, allowed to do same to protect their citizens from attacks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll states in the country have equal rights and privileges. No state in Nigeria has rights, power, or privileges more than the other. We are in a federation where all states are equal. We do not have two countries in Nigeria.
