Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Labour Party in Cross River State have resolved all differences and have collapsed structures to forge a common front.<\/p>\n

This followed a meeting the leadership of the NLC and LP held in Calabar, the state capital.<\/p>\n

Before now, the leadership of NLC had decided to sponsor candidates as party chairman and governorship candidates.<\/p>\n

This drew the ire of the newly constituted party exco headed by Ambassador Ogar Osim and there was a seeming face-off until the national leadership of LP recognised Ogar.<\/p>\n

The LP leadership also cautioned the NLC to focus on its trade union activities but with support to the party.<\/p>\n

The reconciliation meeting had delegations from both sides where the NLC accepted to collapse its structures and to mobilise workers to support and vote for LP during next year\u2019s general election.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the end of the meeting, Osim lauded the NLC leadership.<\/p>\n

He said both have said that the tasks of working to popularise the party and deliver its candidates in the state were more imperative.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have met with the leadership of NLC, and we had favourable deliberations. We have agreed to work together for the sake of the party.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey are excited that LP is waxing stronger with increasing membership across all wards and chapters.\u201d<\/p>\n

Osim further disclosed that their state secretariat is now ready for commissioning by their presidential candidate, Peter Obi, who is soon visiting the state.<\/p>\n
