Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Manchester United legend, Paul Scholes, has said the Red Devils should have done \u201csomething different\u201d to stop Manchester City striker Erling Haaland during their Premier League derby 6-3 defeat against Pep Guardiola\u2019s side on Sunday at Etihad.<\/p>\n

Haaland continued his astonishing start to life in England, scoring a hat-trick against Man United over the weekend to take his tally of goals for the season so far in the Premier League to 14.<\/p>\n

The Norwegian bullied Man United\u2019s defence and got his first goal of the contest by towering above everyone inside the box to head home from a corner.<\/p>\n

Haaland\u2019s other two goals came from him being in the right place at the right time to anticipate balls into the box that he connected with through his feet.<\/p>\n

Scholes believes Erik ten Hag\u2019s side should have done more to try and stop Haaland\u2019s runs during the encounter.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Premier League Productions, Scholes said: \u201cHe is virtually impossible to stop, but you have got to try and find a way. But as a Manchester United defender, in those situations, you can\u2019t always match up against these big players; you have to do something different if you are a smaller player.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have got to do something to try and stop him, even if it was just trying to stop a run. They just were not streetwise enough and he was so easy to play against, meaning it ended up being an embarrassing performance, first half especially.\u201d<\/p>\n
