Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Seyi Adisa has appealed to Governor Seyi Makinde of the state to urgently rehabilitate the collapsed Odo-Aro bridge in his constituency.<\/p>\n

DAILY POST recalls that the Odo-Aro bridge, which falls under Afijio state constituency, collapsed recently.<\/p>\n

The bridge, which links Imini and Ilora communities in Afijio local government, reportedly collapsed following a heavy downpour last month.<\/p>\n

Adisa during the plenary session on Tuesday appealed to Makinde to urgently rehabilitate the collapsed bridge.<\/p>\n

While presenting a matter of urgent public importance before the plenary, he urged Makinde to come to the aid of the people of the affected communities.<\/p>\n

He urged Makinde to direct the state Ministry of Works and Transport to commence rehabilitation works on the bridge.<\/p>\n

He added that this will put some palliative measures in place to ease the pains inflicted on the people as a result of the collapse.<\/p>\n

Adisa said, \u201cThe Imini community in Afijio Local Government of the State has been disconnected from Ilora and rest of Afijio due to the collapse of the Odo \u2013 Aro Bridge. This unfortunate incidence occurred after heavy down pour of Monday 5th September 2022.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe major socio-economic activity of our people is agriculture and the development has continued to hinder farmers\u2019 movement to their farms and the markets. Students are also unable to access their schools as a result of the collapsed bridge.<\/p>\n

\u201cConcerned that this bridge is the only route which links Imini town and Ilora and by extension some other parts of the Local Government area and it is the only access road for Farmers and traders. This collapse has inflicted so much untold hardship on the route users.<\/p>\n

\u201cHence, the need for State Government while planning on immediate reconstruction of the damaged bridge to put palliative measures in place to alleviate the suffering the people plying the route.\u201d<\/p>\n
