Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Nigeria\u2019s Flamingos will battle the United States of America for a place in the quarter-finals at the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women\u2019s World Cup in India on Friday (Friday).<\/p>\n

It is the first time both countries will be meeting at this level<\/p>\n

The Flamingos have failed to reach the semi-finals in six previous editions.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s the fourth time the West Africans will be playing in the quarter-finals.<\/p>\n

Forward Opeyemi Ajakaye, though yet to register a goal for Nigeria in the competition, has been the team\u2019s key star.<\/p>\n

The 16-year-old won back-to-back Player of the Match against New Zealand and Chile and much will be expected from her against the Americans.<\/p>\n

Head Coach, Bankole Olowookere will also bank on the likes of Aminat Bello, Blessing Emmanuel Bisola Mosaku and captain Alvine Dah-Zossu to deliver the goods for his side.<\/p>\n

The Americans will hope to reach the semis for the first time since 2008 when they finished as runners-up at the inaugural edition in New Zealand.<\/p>\n
