Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Lagos State Police Command has commenced a probe into the attack on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign train.<\/p>\n

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin made the announcement on Monday.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson confirmed that the party notified the DPO in Badagry of the locations of its visits and security was provided.<\/p>\n

\u201cHowever, the campaign train made an unscheduled visit to a totally different and undisclosed location on their way back without commensurate notification to the police,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Hundeyin said the command was waiting for the victims\u2019 complaints as the statements would assist in the ongoing investigation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe assurance is hereby given that no stone will be left unturned to arrest and prosecute the attackers\u201d, the PRO added.<\/p>\n

Party members and supporters of PDP governorship candidate, Olajide Adediran (Jandor) were ambushed on Sunday.<\/p>\n

They were returning from a journey to the Ikoga Junction area of Badagry Local Government.<\/p>\n

The PDP declared that the culprits were loyalists of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).<\/p>\n

Publicity Secretary, JandorFunke 2023 Campaign Council, Hakeem Amode said several members of Jandor\u2019s entourage, including journalists, were injured.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson said that thugs were shouting APC while shooting guns and using dangerous weapons.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur party raised concern over the threat to use APC sponsored thugs to attack the campaign programmes of our gubernatorial candidate\u201d, Amode noted.<\/p>\n

Jandor hails from the Badagry division of Lagos. The flagbearer and his running mate, Funke Akindele visited Islamic and Church leaders hours before the attack.<\/p>\n
