Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has reassured residents of Abuja of safety, encouraging them to install Close-Circuit Television (CCTV).<\/p>\n

A statement Monday night by the Director of Information, Muhammad Sule appealed to the people to remain calm.<\/p>\n

Sule cited the advisory issued by some Embassies warning their citizens to avoid public places in the nation\u2019s capital.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson said the FCT Executive Committee (EXCO) deliberated the arrangements to sustain law and order in Abuja.<\/p>\n

The committee noted that though the advisory had generated tensions, fear, and panic, security agencies are combing different areas to fish out criminals.<\/p>\n

The FCTA said before now, law enforcement agencies had upscaled surveillance through their personnel to ward off any security breach.<\/p>\n

The meeting urged residents to cooperate with the government by volunteering useful and timely information to the police and others.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Committee enjoined residents to install Close-Circuit Television (CCTV) in public places and buildings, to complement efforts by government\u201d, Sule stated.<\/p>\n

The EXCO noted that the first phase of the joint security operation by G-7, the states contiguous to the FCT, recorded success, including the arrest of bandits and rescue of kidnapped victims.<\/p>\n

Permanent Secretary, Olusade Adesola, represented the Minister, Muhammad Bello. Also in attendance were Chief of Staff to the Minister, Bashir Mai-Borno, Secretaries of Mandate Secretariats, AMMC Coordinator, among others.<\/p>\n

The FCTA last week distributed 60 operational vehicles fitted with the state-of-the-art equipment to security agencies.<\/p>\n
