Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has cautioned Kashim Shettima, vice-presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), against being irresponsible and disrespectful.<\/p>\n

The former vice president also said that politics does not confer on Shettima or anyone the license to make irresponsible statements.<\/p>\n

Recall that Shettima had criticised one of the businesses of Abubakar at an event in Lagos, alleging that the Atiku\u2019s ability to sell bottled water doesn\u2019t make him an expert on the economy.<\/p>\n

But, Atiku, in a statement issued on Wednesday night by his media adviser, Paul Ibe, stated that any business that employs workers should be valued.<\/p>\n

The former vice president, while asking Shettima to apologise for the comment, stated that politics should not make anyone utter \u201cirresponsible statements\u201d.<\/p>\n

Part of the statement read: \u201cIt is with utter dismay that we listened to the presidential candidate of the APC, Bola Tinubu and his running mate talk condescendingly about other presidential candidates at a gathering that they invited members of the private sector to on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe remarks from the candidates of the APC show gross irresponsibility and disrespect.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is indicative that the Tinubu-Shettima administration will be anti-entrepreneurship and business.<\/p>\n

\u201cPolitics does not confer on anyone the license to make irresponsible statements,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n

He further asked Shettima to apologise to Nigerians, especially those who benefit from his business.<\/p>\n
