Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Wednesday, said the suspects recently arrested and paraded by Anambra police command for allegedly attacking a police station in the state were not their members.<\/p>\n
The group wondered why police always linked IPOB which had remained a non-violent organisation, with criminal matters.<\/p>\n
The police had on Monday, paraded five suspected members of the pro-Biafran group over the burning of one of its police stations in Ajali, Orumba, Anambra State.<\/p>\n
A statement by the group\u2019s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, insisted that no member of the group was criminal and had never bore arms since it started the movement for the restoration of Biafran state.<\/p>\n
\u201cIPOB\u00a0members never carted way AK-47 rifles, burnt police patrol van or police station at Ajali, in Orumba, Anambra State, and will never do so until Biafra\u2019s freedom is restored,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n
The group asked governors of Anambra and Abia States to release those arrested in their respective states, insisting that they remained responsible for the ongoing manhunt and illegal arrests as the chief security officers of the states.<\/p>\n
The statement partly read, \u201cOur people are in serious danger over the recent and latest version of manhunt and illegal arrest going on in Abia and Anambra states, instructed by Ikpeazu and Obiano.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are worried over the deployment and posting of Nigerian police and army officers in Biafraland.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe commissioner of police in Anambra and Abia states including other states in Biafraland are Fulani officers, their spokespersons, area commanders and DPOs. Our people are seriously under cage.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is important we remind Nigerians and stakeholders in Abia and Anambra states to warn Ikpeazu and Obiano to release those arrested in their respective states or wait to see IPOB\u2019s new strategy to restore Biafra sovereignty in the shortest possible time.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
