Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Osun State House of Assembly has maintained that the description of Osun State as the \u201cState of the Virtuous\u201d still stands.<\/p>\n

The Osun Assembly also announced that while it is aware of a court judgment in effect recognizing \u201cOsun State\u201d, the Assembly, pending the determination and exhaustion of all legal means would not be drawn into the matter.<\/p>\n

The newly sworn-in governor of the state, Ademola Adeleke in his inauguration address on Sunday, November 27, 2022, had renamed the state, Osun State as opposed to The State of Osun and changed its description from \u201cThe State of the Virtuous\u201d to \u201cThe State of the Living Spring.\u201d<\/p>\n

The announcement was made known in a release by Moshood Kunle Akande, Chairman, House Committee on Media and Publicity on Monday in Osogbo.<\/p>\n

The release read thus: \u201cThe State of Osun House of Assembly having reviewed the inaugural speech of the Governor and the activities of the inauguration hereby resolves as follows:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe usage of the State Anthem, Crest and Flag is an enactment of law and as such, its usage is a matter of law and not choice.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe enactment \u201cState of Osun Anthem, Crest and Flag Law, 2012\u201d assented to on the 18th of December, 2012 contained in Schedule I, II, III, IV and V, which carefully details every component of this law is not in ambiguity.<\/p>\n

\u201cSchedule I is the State Anthem, Schedule II has to do with the State Crest, Schedule III is the symbolic significance of the elements in the crest, Schedule IV is The Flag and Schedule, the symbolic significance of the elements in the UN<\/p>\n

\u201cLastly, while we are aware of a court judgment in effect recognizing \u201cOsun State\u201d, the Assembly, pending the determination and exhaustion of all legal means would not be drawn into this matter.<\/p>\n

\u201cHowever, the State shall and will continue to be described as the State of the Virtuous (Ipinle Omoluabi).\u201d<\/p>\n
